All money raised from this release will be donated to Manchester Mind! This is the first album I feel properly comfortable charging for, so I figured any money I do get would be put to better use by Mind rather than me spending it all on Sun City Girls albums.

An album sort of made by accident in a week, though that belittles the quality I think - Squalor's been kicking around for over a year in various forms (first as 3 separate songs, then with loads of different sections I've swapped in and out to get it just right), and putting it together into its finished form took a week almost non-stop. It's a ridiculous, excessive slab of weird psychogeographical kraut/psych/rock-y goodness about all the bad things in life and I think it's a bit brilliant.

The other really long song is the punchline to a years long joke I've long since forgotten the setup to, but it involved making a stupidly long chaotic song about the life and times of my mate George. The finished version doesn't really go beyond his name but it's 17 minutes of constantly collapsing and rebuilding completely improvised guitar workouts riding a single Fall-esque riff. There is a proper bridge though! It's just ten minutes in.

Bodies Lived In was meant to be a brief bridge between Squalor and Georgie Boy, but that didn't quite work out. The first time I've recorded with acoustic guitars or violas - it turns out mic placement and getting the levels right is really hard! But anyway, A mellow song about struggling to get to sleep that (naturally) turns into a weird dread-fueled drone. I apologise for my French.

I hope you like them all, I think they're my best works yet, and please, give generously. As ever, more soon.
