Instrumentals from my first attempt at making a second album, waaaaay back in June. I couldn't quite make them work as a full thing, and I couldn't think of lyrics so I just sort of abandoned them. They're pretty ramshackle/my timing remains terrible but I still think they're pretty good, and show a side of my music that I haven't really explored otherwise, and would like to one day! Lots of proper guitar freakouts this summer I think. And weird chilled out mellowness I guess, although I sort of do that anyway (though in a far more miserable way normally). Maybe one day I'll come back to this stuff and add words, we'll see.
The Day Today was written after listening to too much Deerhoof, Holyholyholy after I broke my guitar and a cable, so all the distortion is just clipping loads on the audio interface, and the weird smoothness comes from the cable falling out of my guitar as I'm playing. Think I'll Take a Nap is just a sample from one of the guitar parts of Holyholyholy then soloed over on the left, Arpeggiator came from listening to In Rainbows A LOT, and The End of the World is a little thing inspired by the Murakami book with (partially) the same name that would've made it onto Structures but didn't really fit the tracklisting.
Hope you enjoy them, I've got a bunch of stuff on my laptop nearly finished so lots more in the next month or two when I'm back in the UK!
